For a backbackers hotel it was an amazing location and place, very clean! I was dissapointed in the fact that the bed was like concrete and the room had no source of fresh or ac air. But the staff were nice and had lots of suggestions and the facilities were wonderful! I would recomend you! Mav

Overall another great stay, friendly staff at reception on all shifts. An offer with luggage fantastic touch. We stay at Jucy because of location, safety, staff and price. Two things to work on.. the stairwell was not vacumed from time we checked in until time we left. It looks a little grubby. I would rececommend putting something on walls (not paint) to stop scuff marks from bags etc. This is a first impression as when you walk up the stairs the sun shines through the window showing all the imperfections. The room is clean and has just about everything you need. It would be a bonus if you can add a phone and a mini-fridge. The price is affordable. The staff were friendly. The location is good. Well, stayed at jucy on 7 dec 2011 for cold chisel concert. Found jucy by accident on "booking.com" ( which i have also reviewed on) when desperate to find last minute reasonably priced accommodation that wasn't a back packers or dive. I hit the jack pot when jucy came up at... Get this... Only 85 bucks for 3 people! I thought I had heard wrong. So with slight trepidation we arrived at jucy on Emily place. From the minute we arrived to the crisp quirky colour scheme and smiling friendly receptionist we new we were in for a great night. The whole place had a relaxing and FUN atmosphere which was just what we needed preconcert. The assistance and signage was spot on .. Our room was great.. Yes small and basic .. But clean with new mattresses and nice linen. It had all we needed really. We had a lounge we could use with free tea coffee etc and nice tv... But even better a garden area and a balcony by our room.. The PERFECT venue for our pre concert warm up. Tiff

My 10 year old son and I were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The bright colours can be a shock to the system but they grow quickly on you. My son thought it was a ‘cool place and Lucy looks great’ (as my son put it). The room we occupied was very clean and spacious enough to allow the two of us to move without bumping into one another. The room décor was simple but yet ‘classy’. Unfortunately we couldn’t open the window and we heard all night some sort of fan going. The hotel is well located – far away from the main drag (= no people or traffic noise) but close enough to have a walk around and reach Britomart bus station quickly. The reception staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. It seems nothing was too much bother for them. The storage room where guests can leave their belongings is fantastic – we checked out at 9.00am but were going to the airport at 4.00pm. We really appreciated staff offering us to leave ours bags in storage. We are from Christchurch and we had a terrible year (without dwelling on it) but those three days in Auckland were much appreciated relief for us – unfortunately my husband couldn’t come as the Ministry of Education has extended the study time and pushed the dates for the NZQA exams. Anyway, we are really happy with our stay at Jucy and if/when we return to Auckland this is most definitely the place we will stay in. One thing if I may, we didn’t realise there was a kitchen / sitting room for guests’ use, it would have been nice upon arrival to let us know there was cooking facilities available. I stayed in the hotel directly opposite the Jucy office on the ground floor. Everything was good save for the party which seemed to go on till about 2:30 am. Not sure where it was. Otherwise the location is nice and quiet for central city and well located to CBD. I appreciate the pricing for Lucy Club members and will be back. Tony Lines

I was happy with my stay at Jucy on the 15th and 16th of November as it is very close to the Vector arena which was the reason for my visit to Auckland. Unfortunately, i didnt have an alarm clock so i arranged with the guy on the evening shift to get a wakeup call the next morning to catch an early flight back to Dunedin but it didnt happen and when i spoke to the night shift guy before i left he said the evening guy didnt tell him but it was highlighted on the sheet. Dont no whose fault it was but luckily i had to get up to the toilet and it was only a few minutes after the time i asked for the wakeup call. Would stay again but would bring an alarm clock next time. Glenys Harwood

Hi there Loved the place. Paulo (on Reception) from Brazil was great and very helpful. Also I heard you were thinking of not having the hotel manned 24x7. Please don't do that.- It was because you had someone at reception 24x7 that made me choose you in the first place. For a woman particularly it makes you feel safe - especially when arriving at odd hours like 2.00am!. Just a couple of pointers - you need a rack in the shower, somewhere to place your soap and shampoo bottles. Also you need a constant supply of clean mats on the floor as it is very slippery when you get out of the shower onto the wet floor. (there were none there when I had a shower). Also you need a handle too on the shower as it is a big step down onto the floor as there is nothing to hold onto - especially when the floor is wet and slippery . I am particularly sensitive to things like that, having broken my ankle on a slippery surface in the past - and you don't want to have anyone sue you because of something like that! . Need to place safety as a top priority. Coffee is great and LOVE your logo. You should make more items for sale - you'd make a killing selling your green mugs with the Jucy logo on them - I would have bought heaps. I would have also bought the little silver fan with your logo on too! Great colour scheme and wonderful concept! Cheers JULEA Julea Miguel

I stayed at your hotel on the 15th -17th October. I stayed under Paul Wrights reservation. I thought the accommodation was reasonable. As a rugby trip, the Hotel worked with the atmosphere we were enjoying. The staff were very nice at all times and the layout was good as well. The hotel was always clean and looked well kept. My only complaint is a small one, and that was the Television. the quality of the picture was ordinary and there was a lack of channels. Other than that, HAD A BALL! Cheers Rod Fenton Rod Fenton

Found staff courteous and helpful at all times. Was concerned that I found hot tap in bathroom left running 4 times. Suggest you need to renew washers. Terrible waste of water and costly to you. A few more hooks/rails wouldn't go amiss in room and bathroom. Would definitely stay again, so central. Oh, a few more forks in the kitchen would be good too! tessa brown

I always enjoy my stays at Jucy. My fav place to pitch a tent when in Auckland. Great staff and very peaceful. After watching the ALL BLACKS saturday night, I came back to my fav home away from home, enjoyed a nice Guinness and kicked back. Sleep is NEVER a problem. I had a good two day stay at the hotel. The front desk folks had been very helpful especially the one from Latin America. The shared facilities were well maintained (clean). On the two nights, at past midnight, there were loud noises of people speaking and laughing from outside - maybe with guest returning. I left the windows slightly opened for some fresh air. Parking was not very convenient as the outside buzzer does not work - would be good if you could consider fixing that (maybe with a ON'OFF switch from the reception if needed). Overall, I had a good stay and I am coming back again in September :-). P.S. Maybe a small table + one chair in the single bedroom will also help. I attend classes in Massey and that table/chair will help. Francis Yeo

Pretty much every time I come up to Auckland I stay at Jucy Hotel because it's so well priced and CLEAN!!! I don't feel like I'm going to be murdered there - which shouldn't be an amazing thing, but I stayed in a hotel in Auckland last year where that was the case... The last time I stayed at Jucy Hotel was a Monday night and it was brilliant - as usual. I had a bit of time on my side where I got to make myself dinner in the sharred kitchen and even watch some TV before heading out. Thanks Jucy! See you in a couple of weeks! Amanda

I have stayed at Jucy Hotel in Auckland on numerous occasions now, and will def. keep coming back for more - especially after finding on my last visit that there is now a shared kitchen available to guests who are staying in the rooms that have the shared bathrooms / showers, etc. A great place to stay for people on a budget and its not too far from town. Just make sure that you have your walking shoes on for those hills! :D I also like that Jucy Hotel is nice and close to the supermarket. Heaven! Amanda

Excellent room! Excellent location! Friendly staff and management. Servicing of room - conflicting and confusing information from front-desk staff resulting in room not being serviced for over 5 days. Charging $5 for this and $15 for that and not being flexible and customer-experience oriented detracts from what is an excellent lodging facility. Charging $15 ($30? - conflicting information from your staff) for an hour of Wi-Fi is daylight robbery in this day and age - if someone is staying with you for more than 4-5 days, it might be an option to throw this in or at a significantly discounted rate. I refused to purchase this from you having far cheaper albeit less convenient options around your location. I found it far less painful dealing with your male evening / early morning staff - less pedantic (read: anal) and paranoid about frivolous and superficial issues. Dinesh Menon

Areas for improvement - for the females have a hair dryer in the room and some hocks to hang shirts would be good as would an ironing board in the room. There was 10 of us - and we had 3 rooms - the 7 women had interconnecting rooms and we found that great. We loved our rooms and the location - right near the entrance of the building. We sent the 3 guys upstairs - (I didnt go check out their room as Im disabled). They reckoned they were in a prison cell as the beds were very close together. Also they never thought to open the window and found it hard to sleep as it was so hot - thats men for you!!. The room was clean tidy and the shower was awesome with pressure and heaps of hot water. The services were great the laundry facilities were unexpected (you dropped your laundry off paid $10 and it was ready the next morning the laundry bag was provided for you as well) 5 stars for a backpacker style hotel

What an adventure. Live in Auckland, left the car at home and took the train, armed with our SuperGold card and R60 Theatre Card. Perfect place to explore our own central city. Be a bit of a trick with the zimmer frame due to the hill and stairs but we managed fine. Friendly staff made us feel welcome. Funky decor designed for those 1/4 of my age but that was OK. It was great for us old timers to get amongst the action. Even took in a talking movie! Get in there and try it out before they nail your coffin shut.

We stayed in your Auckland hotel when we came up for the Cat Stevens show (I think we were guests # 4!), Anyhow, one thing I would like to say is that Jucy deserves big ups for providing chat and skype services. This makes booking and requests really easy and instantaneous, and certainly put you ahead of the other hotels in the area when we made our booking. No stuffing around waiting a day or more for email/phone replies. I hope this gives you 'the edge' ahead of other hotels, and wish you good luck.
