The JUCY Group has been practising eco-friendly practices for many years with their vehicle rental and cruise businesses. Each year as part of an annual assessment new initiatives are introduced to make our company more sustainable. Staff are encouraged to contribute ideas on how the hotel can reduce, re-use or recycle more and any other ‘green’ practices are encouraged.
JUCY Hotel has a commitment to providing accommodation for environmentally-conscious travellers who care about their carbon footprint.
The hotel operates a recycling programme recycling paper, plastics and bottles and encourages guests to participate in the scheme by providing easy to locate recycling bins.
Hotel staff are also familiar with the internal recycling scheme. Items of clothing and other goods left by the guests are donated to local city missions as part of the hotel’s commitment to social responsibility.
Guests have a key-card device that lets guests use electrical items only when they are in the room. Where possible, all lights are eco-friendly bulbs.
You will have seen that many hotels these days encourage the re-use of towels and sheets. At JUCY we go a step further and have a general policy that we will only service your room after the 5th guest night. As a result, we use less water, less electricity, less washing chemicals and therefore fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Of course, you can request to have the room serviced more regularly for a small charge.
Our choice of cleaning products also reflects our ‘JUCY Green’ image. NZ owned and operated Kemsol supply our commercial cleaning products and are focused on ‘environmentally friendly cost effective cleaning solutions’.
Continuing its environmentally-friendly focus, JUCY Hotel provides guests with access to New Zealand’s first car share company, Cityhop, offering cars by the hour to guests. The benefit of this venture is that it provides guests with an alternative to car hire. The hotel is centrally located so it is easy for guests to walk to the public transport bus, train or ferry station or walk to Queen St, the Vector arena and so on.
