Jucy New Zealand Car Rental - What Is Special About Jucy?
There are about 400 car rental operators in just Auckland, a premier city in the North Island of New Zealand. But there is only one Jucy car rental
When we first started Jucy back in September 2001 (just 2 days after 9/11 ..... We did not know the best time to start a tourism business), many people in the New Zealand tourism industry scoffed at us and thought we were stupid. They said that the New Zealand car rental industry was saturated with too many companies and that we were committing commercial suicide by starting Jucy.
Well, six years down the road and 100,000 bookings later, we are pleased to announce that Jucy is alive and kicking and gaining in strength.
The oft-repeated question in New Zealand car hire industry is - In such a cut throat market, how do so many players compete and survive? Most businesses ensure they make enough in the peak summer tourist season to cover up their losses in the off peak winter season.
One of the key factors responsible for the saturation of the vehicle hire industry is the low barrier to entry in starting a car rental business. New Zealand is one of the largest importer of vehicles from Japan.
Simply put, anyone can take $50,000 to Japan and bring back 5 cars. They can pay $250, get a license and start a vehicle rental business from home.
This leads to a major problem of lack of quality control in the New Zealand car hire industry. As a result, a number of sub standard operators are tarnishing the name of New Zealand tourism by offering sub standard service and poor vehicles.
Jucy is different in that it prides itself in providing top notch service and quality vehicles at affordable prices to its customers who are its most valuable asset. Unfortunately, we cannot control how the toursim industry in New Zealand works.
It is really a matter for the New Zealand government to ensure that tourists to our beautiful country do not get third rate service from dodgy operators.
I would like to call upon all our industry partners to start to lobby government to put in place rigorous procedures to ensure that the New Zealand rental car industry is not penalised by a few poor operators.
